Following an in-depth technical exchange in July with Professor Shane Underwood, President of the Association of Pavement Science and Engineering (APSE), who visited at Haiyun Materials’ invitation, Haiyun Materials continues to advance its international technical collaboration, actively engaging in high-level global academic and industry dialogues to expand its technical service capabilities in overseas markets.
The 31st Singapore Symposium on Pavement Technology (SPT 2026) was successfully held on 21 August 2026. Co-organised by the Pavement Engineering Society (PES) of Singapore and the Centre for Transportation Research (CTR) at the National University of Singapore, and supported by the LTA Academy of the Land Transport Authority of Singapore, the symposium gathered leading scholars, regulatory experts and senior industry representatives from across the Asia-Pacific and beyond. It is recognised as one of the most influential platforms for the exchange of cutting-edge road transport infrastructure technologies in the region.
Aligned with the latest trends in modern road engineering, the symposium featured in-depth discussions across three core themes: Application of Artificial Intelligence in Road Maintenance and Management, Advanced Pavement Technologies and Solutions, and New Technologies and New Materials.
Addressing Asia-Pacific Challenges, Showcasing Innovative Solutions
Qi Cong, Assistant General Manager and General Manager of Applied Technology of Haiyun (Hainan) Materials Technology Co., Ltd. was invited to deliver a presentation at the “New Technologies and New Materials” thematic forum, titled Sustainable Asia-Pacific Infrastructure: High-Performance Materials and Circular Pavement Solutions.
The presentation addressed key engineering challenges prevalent in the Asia-Pacific region, including high-temperature and high-humidity conditions, soft soil subgrades, and poor adhesion to acidic aggregates. It systematically presented Haiyun Materials’ breakthroughs in technology R&D and scenario-specific material applications, and outlined how Haiyun Materials leverages the preferential policies and geographical advantages of the Hainan Free Trade Port, together with integrated synergies across its entire industrial chain, to deliver high-quality customised products and one-stop comprehensive technical solutions to overseas clients:
- Anti-rutting and Long-life Asphalt Pavement Solutions: The presentation featured 40/50 penetration grade anti-rutting road asphalt and durable high-modulus modified asphalt, developed specifically for hot, humid and heavy-load environments. These products significantly improve the dynamic modulus and fatigue resistance of pavements, with a proven track record of deployment on multiple heavy-duty expressways across China.
- High-adhesion Asphalt Technology for Acidic Aggregates: To tackle the aggregate stripping issue associated with acidic aggregates such as granite — widely available in the Asia-Pacific — the company introduced a specialised modified asphalt that achieves the highest Level 5 adhesion rating via polar active functional groups. This technology greatly enhances the water damage resistance of porous drainage pavements.
- High-RAP Green Recycling Technology: A series of specialised recycled asphalt products (RA90/RA110/RA130) were presented, with Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) content of 50% or higher. The technology delivers dual improvements in environmental benefits and life-cycle cost performance.
From bringing in international expertise to sharing Haiyun Materials’ solutions with the world, Haiyun Materials fully demonstrated its innovation capabilities and scenario-based solution expertise in advanced asphalt materials at the symposium. The event has established a dedicated technical exchange platform for the company to deepen its presence in Southeast Asia and the wider Asia-Pacific market, and to participate in high-standard transport infrastructure projects.
Looking ahead, Haiyun Materials will continue to be guided by customer needs, leveraging its continuously leading technological innovations and scenario-based solution capabilities to deepen cooperation with global customers and jointly advance technological progress and sustainable development in the field of road engineering materials.
